Privacy and data

Taking your data with you

Export, deletion, and the requests you do not have to make politely.

Export

Under Account, download your data. It contains your aliases and their settings, your recipients, rules, blocklist, labels and account settings.

It does not contain messages, because there are none to contain, unless you use the mailbox, in which case your IMAP client already has them.

Deletion

Also under Account, also immediate. What survives is listed in Closing your account, and it is short: reserved usernames, and abuse or legal correspondence we are required to keep.

Why these are buttons rather than requests

The right to a copy of your data and the right to have it deleted are legal rights, and a service that makes you write an email to exercise them is a service that has decided to make them inconvenient. Both are self-service here, both work without anybody at our end reading anything, and neither takes a month.

Correcting something

Everything we hold about you is something you typed, and everything you typed is editable in the dashboard. If you find something that is not, tell us, because that is a bug rather than a policy.

Complaining

If you think we have handled your data badly, write to us first, because we would rather fix it. You can also complain to a supervisory authority, and the privacy notice says which one and how.

Written for people using Skudo. If a page here is wrong or missing, tell us.
