Your email address is the one thing you hand to every shop, forum and newsletter, and once handed over you cannot take it back. It gets sold, it gets breached, and years later you are still receiving the consequences.

Skudo gives you a different address for each of them.

How it works

You create an address here, for example orders.4kf2@skudo.org, and give that one out instead of your own. Mail sent to it is forwarded to the inbox you already use, on the same phone and in the same app. Nothing about your existing setup changes.

When you reply, your answer leaves with the alias as the sender. The other side sees the address they wrote to and never sees yours.

If an address starts attracting things you did not ask for, you switch it off. The noise stops here, and every other address you have keeps working.

What it is not

It is not a new inbox you have to check, unless you want one. Forwarding is the default and most people never need anything else.

It is not a way to hide from someone who already knows your name. It is a way to stop giving that name away by default.

It is not a paid product with a better version above it. There is one tier, it is free, and donations keep the servers on.

What it protects, honestly

An alias breaks the link between the sites you use and your real address. If a shop is breached, the address in that dump belongs to the shop, not to your life.

It does not encrypt the message itself. Mail is forwarded, which means it passes through our servers, and what protects it there is written down in What Skudo stores about you rather than implied.
