There is one tier. It is free, and there is nothing above it to buy.

Why not a paid tier

A privacy product with a paid tier has an incentive to make the free one worse, and a reason to know who paid. Both of those cut against the point.

Keeping one tier means the limits that exist are there because of what the service can carry, not because of what somebody would pay to remove, which is a much easier thing to explain honestly.

How the bill is paid

Donations. The monthly cost of running the service is published on the donation page, along with how much of this month is covered. A donation buys nothing and unlocks nothing: it pays for a day of servers, and the page says how many days.

Donations are not tied to accounts. Nothing is recorded that connects a payment to a user, which also means we cannot thank you by name unless you ask us to.

What happens if donations do not cover it

The bill is paid anyway for as long as that is possible, and if it stops being possible you will hear it from us plainly and early rather than discovering it. That is a commitment about notice, and it is on the transparency page rather than only here.

What you can do instead of paying

Tell somebody it exists. Report a bug. Answer somebody's question. An account that behaves well and does not get our domains blocked is worth more to this service than most donations.
